Change Management
We live in a dramatic age of change and uncertainty, and, while every change does not have a global impact, it can still be significant. A change in job responsibilities, career direction, or even our personal relationships impact us. Those impacts may be unsettling and none of us are immune. No one can avoid change in today's business environment. The challenge is in dealing with it and the resulting stress that creates new dilemmas and problems. Organizational leadership needs to understand that change can kill people's faith in the future. If an organization asks more and more of everyone, but neglects to tie that request to the "heartstrings" of the employees (and to words that motivate them), along with clear goals, then the job of leadership becomes justifying the struggle, rather than aiming people toward something meangingful. As organizations move at an ever increasing pace, all of us are likely to become winded by the experience. Exponential change is becoming the norm. Change is so rapid and so unexpected on some days that we cannot react in effective ways with conventional approaches. Therefore, traditional perceptions of what is really happening will increasingly fail us because we will need to modify how we respond to these unexpected instabilities. How you and your company thinks about, plans for, and talks about change may make all the difference in the world for its success and your success. Without a change management strategy and process, your organization may miss the opportunity to navigate a successful organizational change/transition.
